early June Newsletter

What if
you could..?
...Find a financial
consultant to help you understand whether you can afford to
breakup?
What questions would you need
answering?
I am hopeless at financial planning especially when funds are
tight; then in my slightly deluded state I convince myself
it will be a different matter entirely when finances are
ticking over nicely! But there are some subjects which I
always close my ears to - pension splitting and asset
protection for instance. I don’t get this stuff but I know I
must - and then I end up beating myself up for not taking the
time to master it.
So I’m really happy that highly qualified independent financial
adviser Bill Smith accepted our
invitation to tell us about matters of pensions and asset
splitting and growth. Not only will it take just one hour
(and a glass of wine) with your feet up, but you can also
download the transcription afterwards and replay the audio
recording if you didn’t manage to capture all the wonderful
snippets of financial wisdom he’ll be throwing out
there.
Join us - Bill,
Jackie and me, Kirsten, on our next teleclass called
Can we afford to
divorce? on Tuesday 9 June at 8pm to
explore how we can possibly know whether
you can afford
to breakup or divorce; how on earth you go about
splitting the pension(s); what to do with financial
settlements when you finally get them and how to
establish whether you can buy another house, now - or
ever.

I said Bill is highly experienced - as an
accredited financial adviser in collaborative family law he
helps people stay out of court and save family assets by, yet
ensures they get the best professional help around the
finances.

You
can! - Come and meet us - Jackie and Kirsten - and hear us
speak about 'Divorce - a
Choice for Life' at
Leicester's first Divorce
Fair.
Back in March at the Starting Over Show in
Brighton we provided inspiration and
support for questions such as 'How did it all go wrong?' and
‘Will I ever be happy again?’ and vowed to
keep on helping people at live events to get past obstacles so
they could move on. There were of course tears at Brighton, but
many of which were ones of relief at finding someone qualified
to talk to - be it family lawyers, financial consultants,
counsellors, coaches and many others. The divorce fair in
Leicester is another innovative event, and people in a hard
place will understand that finding the right people who can
help can only be beneficial to them and their
families.

Fair.
... Easily understand your
relationships?
Live event in Surrey Sat 4
July
We don't need to tell you how important communication is in a
relationship do we? There are many many ways of improving it
and that doesn't just necessarily mean the words you use -
think about how you are using them - what did you intend when
you replied or reacted to your partner?
On Saturday 4th July we -
that's me, Jackie and colleague Tim Hodgson - are running a
workshop called 'Understanding
the State of Independence in your
Relationships'. It's called that for two
reasons - not least being the date!!
The other thought which is probably of more interest to you is
that for the majority of clients we speak to, at some stage or
other in their relationships they give away or have taken away
the ability to think, speak and act for themselves. Getting the
balance right between shutting up to keep the peace and
becoming a doormat is, in our opinion, quite important.
Equally, having to be the one who makes all the decisions, the
one who is responsible for all domestic, social, medical,
educational, financial and quite possibly more asides can get
very tiring, can't it?

Have you noticed as I have, how many people think that they
aren't allowed to do something because it'll upset their
partner? Is it reasonable or is it holding you back - are you
resentful?
Just because we marry someone doesn't mean that we have to give
up our individuality. If you have lost yours or some of it, we
have ways and means of showing you how to talk to one another
without creating an atmosphere. We have built a full day
programme which will help you build a strong relationship while
being true to yourself. You might want to use these skills in
other places too - with the children, at work, with your family
and friends - there are multiple applications for
them!

'Understanding the State of Independence in
your Relationships.'

person for half price. That's two for £145.50 -
ssshhh don't tell everyone will you! Book your own place and we’ll send the
details of the special code to
you.

the beautiful Surrey countryside - arrange to stay overnight
